We want to take full advantage of these next few months of summer and bring those warm, bright days into our homes. As we transition our wardrobe into the fun and light summer pieces we’ve been dying to wear all winter, why not bring some of those summer vibes into your house? If you want to brighten up your space for the summer, we have five ways that you can do it!
Let the Light In
Now that the sun is out longer, take advantage of the natural light flooding you’re home! Take the time in the morning to open up all your blinds and curtains – you’ll feel more awake and refreshed, trust us! If you want to change the look and feel of your house, take down any heavy curtains and dark drapery and replace it with lighter, more airy window coverings.
Switch Up Your Colour Palette
We love a good warm hue just as much as the next person, but when it comes to summer we want to see the colour! Bright, bold colours are our favourite and they really bring the POP to a room! If you just want to dip your toes in, we suggest finding a bright yellow throw pillow, some bright red vases, or some purple hand towels. If you’re ready to commit, why not go for that show-stopping blue couch you’ve been thinking about or painting your front door a bright colour. Colour has so much power, let it really work for you in these upcoming summer months!
Add in Some Greens
There is no such thing as too many plants and they really can brighten up the mood to any space. It can almost feel like you’ve escaped the city into a more lush, natural place when you bring nature into your home! We also can’t say no to freshly cut flowers in any room of the house. If you’re not looking for that extra responsibility or won’t be home for some of the weekends, we suggest buying quality faux plants or even finding a throw pillow with a palm leaf print on it!
Accessorize with Fresh Fruit
What says summer more than a bowl of oranges or a vase filled with lemons? Not only will they bring that splash of colour to brighten up your space, they smell good and remind you to eat healthy, local farmers market food! Plus, now you have no excuse not to make fresh lemonade on the weekend.
Add in a Mirror
If you already have a bright space, add in a gold rimmed mirror to really take the natural light to the next level. A mirror will help any space feel bigger and more spacious as well as filling the room up with sunshine of course. We’re loving big, floor standing mirrors and circle, wall hanging mirrors!
